Today, the AWESOME lives in Maryland in a woman who dedicated her love to foster children. Emma Patterson is 88-years-old and after decades of giving love and care to almost 40 foster kids, she is retiring.  Emma, as a single mom, raised 4 kids and 10 grandkids and still made room in her heart and home for the foster children. Emma who was recently recognized for her compassion, is one of the longest-serving foster parents in Montgomery County, Maryland and has housed more children long-term than almost anyone else. Her dedication and impact have left an indelible mark on the community. For Patterson, the greatest joy of her fostering journey has been witnessing the growth and success of her foster children. Emma said, “I’m very proud of all of the children because, you know, they all have just turned out to be just wonderful human beings.” Wonderful human beings because they had you as an example, Emma Patterson, THAT’S AWESOME.
