Jury selection continues in New York in the corruption trial of New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez.  On Monday, dozens of potential jurors were dismissed and by the end of the day, and not one had been selected to sit in on the trial that could last up to two months.

The Democratic lawmaker and his wife are accused of accepting cash, gold bars and gifts in exchange for using the senator’s political influence to help businessmen. Menendez has pleaded not guilty and insists on staying in office despite numerous calls to resign.

The senator’s wife will go to trial at a later date. Menendez won’t seek re-election as a Democrat but he did not rule out running as an independent.
