A fifth suspect made an appearance in an Oklahoma courtroom on Wednesday for the murders of two women from southwest Kansas.

A hearing was held for 31-year-old Paul Grice of Keyes, Oklahoma on two counts of first degree murder and kidnapping, and conspiracy to commit murder.  He said he could not pay for an attorney and would need a public defender.   A judge denied bond during a hearing in Texas County District Court in Guymon, Oklahoma.

The other suspects are 54-year-old Tifany Adams, 43-year-old Tad Cullum, 50-year-old Cole Twombly and 44-year-old Cora Twombly.  All five suspects are due back in court on May 15th.

They are charged in the murders of 27-year-old Veronica Butler and 39-year-old Jilian Kelley, both of Hugoton, Kansas.  The women disappeared while on the way to pick up Butler’s two children for a birthday party.  Their bodies were later found in a rural area of Texas County.   Investigators said Adams, the grandmother of the children, was involved in a custody dispute with Butler.

Funeral services were held Tuesday in Hugoton for Kelley, and the funeral for Butler is scheduled Friday.
