Kansas corrections officials are investigating the death of an inmate from Reno County at the Lansing Correctional Facility.
Prison officials said 44-year-old Robert Blanchette was found unresponsive in his cell on Monday. An autopsy was ordered to determine the cause of death.
Blanchette was serving a life sentence out of Reno County for first degree murder and kidnapping. He was convicted in the January, 2006 beating death of 23-year-old Matthew Schrag at a home in Hutchinson. Police said the incident was the result of an argument over a poker game.
