Wichita police are reporting the arrest of a suspect in connection with the robbery of a west side bank. The man was arrested in Meade County in southwest Kansas.
The Meade County Sheriff’s Office said information was received about a bank robbery suspect traveling on Highway 54. At around 2:25 p.m. Wednesday a deputy saw a car going west and made an attempt at a traffic stop. The car sped away but it was stopped at an intersection in the city of Meade. A 67-year-old man was taken into custody.
Wichita police said a man walked into a Wells Fargo branch at 455 South West Street around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday and told a teller that he had a weapon, although a weapon was not seen. The teller handed over an undetermined amount of cash, and the man left on foot in an unknown direction. No one was hurt.
