A passerby found a body in Derby around noon Saturday, and police said it was someone who had been hit by a train.
The body was found near railroad tracks at Songbird and McIntosh, just west of K-15 and a few blocks south of Meadowlark. Police said it appeared the person had been hit by a train sometime Friday night or early Saturday.
Derby police are working with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad on the investigation, and more details are expected Monday. The body was taken to the Sedgwick County coroner.
