Police in Independence, Missouri said a police officer and a civil process server were killed, and two other officers were injured in a shooting early Thursday afternoon.
The shooting occurred around 1 p.m. at a home in Independence. A process server was shot while trying to serve legal documents for Jackson County Circuit Court, and two officers were shot when they tried to help him.
Officer Cody Allen was killed and another officer had critical injuries. A third officer was taken to a hospital with injuries. The suspect had minor injuries and was taken into custody.
The process server who died was identified as Drexel Mack.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol will investigate the shooting.
