The American Red Cross for South Central and Southeast Kansas has kicked off the 29th annual Battle of the Badges blood drive.
The drive is a competition between the Wichita Police Department, Wichita Fire Department, Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, Sedgwick County Fire Department, and Sedgwick County EMS. The drive runs through December 31st with a goal of 1,000 blood and platelet donations.
Donors will vote for their favorite agency when they go to the Wichita Blood Donation Center at 707 North Main, and the winning agency will be announced in January. The Fire Departments have won the past two years.
People can donate blood by making an appointment through redcrossblood.org or calling 1-800-RED-CROSS (733-2767).
