An Arizona border crossing has been shut down “until further notice.” Customs and Border Protection recently announced the Lukeville Port of Entry southwest of Tucson would be temporarily shut down to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
A social media post describing the closure last week said those working in Lukeville would be helping the Border Patrol with “taking migrants into custody.”
The decision was met with criticism by multiple leaders in Arizona, including Governor Katie Hobbs and senators Mark Kelly and Kyrsten Sinema.
