A design concept has been approved to complete a three-and-a-half-mile gap in the Redbud Trail for biking and walking in east Wichita.
The trail is along an abandoned right-of-way connecting downtown Wichita to Andover. There is a gap from Woodlawn to K-96 that will be improved to a nine-foot concrete path with crushed limestone to one side to accommodate bikers and runners.
The project will improve the existing pedestrian signal crossing at Woodlawn and also provide pedestrian signals at Webb Road and Greenwich Road. There will also be a pedestrian bridge over Rock Road.
A final design will go back to the City Council later and construction is planned for 2025.
