People across Wichita have reported a strong odor, and the city of Wichita has been getting calls about the smell, but the cause hasn’t been identified.
The smell was reported by residents in east Wichita, the College Hill neighborhood and Eastborough, and by people in Derby. Some have said it smells like smoke or burning tires.
The smell was first noticed on Sunday morning. City officials said the smell has not affected the air quality, which was rated good on Monday. The air quality has been rated as unhealthy at times in recent weeks because of smoke from the Canadian wildfires.
