Charges have been filed against a third suspect in connection with the shooting incident that left 11 people injured at a club in Wichita’s Old Town district.
A hearing was held Thursday for 23-year-old Jaylen Thomas of Wichita, and he was charged with attempted first degree murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and a misdemeanor charge of unlawful discharge of a firearm in the city. Bond was set at $500,000 and Thomas is scheduled to be back in court on July 24th.
The July 2nd shooting at City Nightz left seven men and two women with gunshot wounds, and two other people were injured when they were trampled by patrons trying to run from the gunfire.
Two other men have been charged in connection with the shooting. 19-year-old Ameir King-Ingram is charged with aggravated battery and six counts of aggravated assault. 27-year-old John Houze is charged with six counts of aggravated assault.
A fourth man was arrested but he was later released when investigators determined that he was firing shots in self-defense. Police are still investigating and looking for any other persons who may have fired shots inside the club.
