Westar, KCP&L launch campaign to introduce their new brand name

Two Kansas utility companies that have recently merged have started a public education campaign to introduce the name of their new company.

Westar Energy and Kansas City Power and Light merged in June, 2018 to form a new company that will be called Evergy.  The name change becomes effective in October.  Television spots, billboards and other advertising will feature employees and communities the company serves in Kansas and Missouri.

Evergy’s president and chief executive officer, Terry Bassham, says the company will continue its mission to provide stable prices for customers and to remain deeply involved in local communities.

Customers can still reach both companies through their respective web sites and phone numbers.  When the rebrand is complete in October, web customers will be directed to evergy.com.   Bills and other correspondence will be mailed with the Evergy logo, and customers will get more information about the name change in their billing statements.
