Farmers’ Markets are a great place to find fresh produce, unique crafts, and delicious treats. But unfortunately, some people seem to forget their manners when attending these events. Vendors have reported some of the top rude things people do at Wichita Farmers Markets, and we’re here to share them with you.

First on the list is trying to negotiate on price. While it’s understandable to want to get a good deal, Farmers’ Markets are not flea markets. The prices are set by the vendors, and they are already offering their products at a fair price. So please, refrain from trying to temptation to ask for a lower price.

Another rude thing people do is let their kids run wild. Farmers’ Markets can be crowded, and it’s important to keep an eye on your children. Letting them run around and touch everything is dangerous and disruptive to other shoppers.

Breaking sample etiquette is also a no-no. Vendors offer samples to give customers a taste of their products, but it’s not an invitation to take as much as you want. Be respectful and only take a small taste.

Snapping photos of products without permission is another rude thing people do. Vendors work hard to create their products, and it’s important to ask for permission before taking photos. Some vendors may not want their products photographed, so it’s always best to ask first.

Finally, arriving before they open or after they close can really rub vendors the wrong way. Vendors have set hours for a reason, and it’s important to respect their time. Shopping early or late may disrupt their setup and tear-down process.

Now that we’ve covered the rude things people do at Farmers’ Markets, let’s talk about some of the top things people love to buy. Fresh produce is always a hit, especially during the summer months when fruits and vegetables are in season. Handmade crafts and jewelry are fun. Locally made honey, jams, and baked goods are always a treat. And let’s not forget about the fresh flowers and plants that can brighten up any home.

Shopping the local Farmers’ Markets is a great way to support local businesses and find unique products.  So next time you attend a Farmers’ Market, keep these tips in mind and enjoy all the wonderful things they have to offer.
