Wichita police arrested a 29-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman after a felony theft investigation.
Police said the Patrol East Community Policing Team and larceny detectives were on a special assignment Tuesday evening in east Wichita to look into recent high-dollar thefts in the area of Kellogg and Rock Road. Officers were contacted by officials with Ulta Beauty at 814 East Kellogg to report about $6,000 worth of cologne that had just been stolen from the store.
Investigators found that a black 2021 Dodge Charger was involved in the theft, and they notified officers of the vehicle location. Officers tried to stop the vehicle at a home in the 500 block of South Eisenhower, but two people got out of the car and ran into the home. A search warrant allowed officers to get inside and they discovered the stolen cologne, along with items from other recent thefts, including clothing that still had anti-theft alarms attached.
Information will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office for the filing of charges.
