Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors Veteran Lonnie Bedwell and his friend Michael Neal. The two friends first met on a moutain in Argentina. They were both climbing and bonded on the things they had in common. Today, they will board a plane bound for Indian. Their goal is to climb the world’s tallest mountain and break a world record while they’re at it. Lonnie, with the help of Michael, plans to navigate all the dangers of Everest, despite being blind. The two kickstarted sightless summits, Bedwell dedicating himself to helping other blind Veterans. Neal says these adventures that can get pricey are now funded by donations.
