The Wichita Police Department and Range 54 are teaming up again to offer free car gun safes, and also free ammo this year.
On Saturday, March 4, starting at 9 a.m., you can show up at Range 54 for a free car safe. To avoid traffic issues, drivers are asked to come into the Range 54 lot from the south, on Christine. Directions are to exit Kellogg at Woodlawn, go south to Orme, then west to Christine. Traffic will be directed through the Range 54 lot.
You can also get free ammo and range time to take part in Operation Save-A-Casing. The WPD is providing 50 rounds of ammo and a lane to collect shell casings, which you keep. These can help identify your gun if it’s ever stolen and used in a shooting. If you plan on shooting, you’ll need to bring your own eye and ear protection.
