A winter storm brought moderate to heavy snow in northwest Kansas on Wednesday, causing slick driving conditions.
A winter storm warning was in effect through noon for northern areas of Kansas, with a winter weather advisory in effect for central and northeast parts of the state.
The storm brought 9 and a half inches of snow to Atwood, with 9 inches for Sharon Springs and 6 and a half inches of snow in Colby. There were lesser amounts into central and southern Kansas with 1.4 inches for Russell, 1.1 inches in Dodge City and a trace of snow for Wichita.
Many roads were snow or ice covered, but there were no major road closures. Traffic cameras showed clear roadways on Interstate 70.
Wichita had some light snow and flurries Thursday morning. The snow is expected to end and temperatures will warm into the 40s for Friday, reaching the 50s and 60s for the weekend.
