Three people were killed Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Marion County. The Kansas Highway Patrol said the crash was reported shortly before 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 56 and Kansas 256.
Troopers said a northbound van collided with a westbound car in the intersection, and both vehicles came to rest in a ditch on the north side of Highway 56.
The crash killed the driver of the van, 52-year-old Charlotte Cole of Moundridge, along with a passenger, 19-year-old Jessica Dawn Schmidt of Fruitland, Idaho.
The driver of the car, a 36-year-old woman from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. One passenger, a 58-year-old Salina woman, was taken to a hospital with possible serious injuries. Another passenger, 85-year-old Wanda Richmond of Marion, was dead at the scene.
