A winter weather system brought a mix of rain and snow to south central Kansas for Monday, with snow reported across western areas of the state.

A winter weather advisory has been issued for Sedgwick County and the surrounding counties, extending into western and central areas of Kansas.  It will be in effect through 10 p.m. Monday.

Snow developed over western Kansas Sunday night and it will continue across the state.   The activity will move into central and eastern areas of the state by Monday afternoon, but temperatures will be above freezing during the afternoon to create a mix of rain and snow.   The Wichita area could see a trace to two inches of snow accumulation, with 1 to 3 inches of snow possible over western Kansas.

The rain and snow activity over south central Kansas should end by midnight Monday night.
