Kansas will be getting $9.8-million as part a multi-state lawsuit against the e-cigarette company Juul.

Juul has been ordered to pay $438.5-million as part a suit brought against it by 34 states. This comes after an investigation into the company’s marketing practices that were found to target teenagers. Money from the settlement will be paid out over the next six to 10 years.  As part of the settlement, JUUL also has to refrain from marketing practices that target young people, and beef up age-verification practices.

Once the settlement is final, more information may be released on what Kansas plans to do with its share of the settlement. Funds like this are typically used to help pay for anti-substance abuse efforts, particularly those geared toward kids.
