Wichita State will receive a $51.4 million grant from the U.S. Dept. of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration as part of the Biden Administration’s “Build Back Better Regional Challenge”
The WSU funds are for the South Kansas Coalition, which will work toward boosting regional aerospace production in order to meet projected industry demands in the coming years.
The South Kansas Coalition will partner with aerospace industry leaders and academic institutions to develop ways to improve manufacturing, create a workforce training facility, provide additional training for existing workers, and explore new technology.
The South Kansas Coalition is one of 21 winners to receive awards that range between $25 and $65 million.
