A Sedgwick County jury returned a guilty verdict Thursday for a man charged in the murder of a woman at a northeast Wichita park in 2014.
The jury deliberated six hours before returning the verdict for 34-year-old Cornell McNeal. He was arrested in November, 2014 after Letitia Davis was found at Fairmount Park at 16th Street North and Vassar. Police said she had been sexually assaulted, beaten and set on fire. She died several days later.
Closing arguments were presented Thursday morning and then the case went to the jury. A judge has scheduled sentencing for August 18th.
