Sedgwick County has been in the process of moving its key administrative offices out of the courthouse building and into a new location in downtown Wichita.

Assistant County Manager Tania Cole recently told county commissioners that six of eight departments have completed the move into the Ruffin Building at Douglas and Broadway.   The move is being made to free space in the courthouse for district court operations and the District Attorney’s office.

Cole said the county commission office, county clerk, county manager, county counselor, Strategic Communications and the Department of Finance have been moved into the Ruffin Building.  There have been issues with moving the county treasurer and register of deeds offices, and they will not make the move until early August.

The county will have offices on the first and sixth floors of the Ruffin building when the move is complete.
