Victims identified in two fatal weekend crashes in Wichita

Police have identified the victims of two separate fatal crashes that occurred hours apart in the same area of east Wichita.

38-year-old Justin Cunningham of Andover was killed in a crash that was reported around 2 a.m. Saturday in the 6600 block of East Kellogg.   Police were called to a rollover crash and then learned about a second crash involving a motorcycle.

Police said a silver SUV was going east on Kellogg when the driver lost control and hit the median, causing the vehicle to roll over.   A 48-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man were hurt.   A 19-year-old woman saw the SUV and went to the scene to help the people inside.   A motorcycle with two people was going east when it struck the 19-year-old woman and then hit the SUV.

The motorcycle driver, Cunningham, was dead at the scene.   His passenger, a 44-year-old woman, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.   The 19-year-old woman who was hit by the motorcycle died later at a hospital.  Her name has not been released.

The driver of the SUV remains hospitalized with serious injuries from the first crash, while the passenger was not hurt.

Police have identified the man who was killed in a Saturday morning crash in the 6600 block of East Kellogg.

Investigators said traffic was reopened after a fatal crash that happened earlier in the morning, and a motorcycle was traveling east in the lane for the off-ramp to Woodlawn.  The cycle rider moved into the outside lane of East Kellogg and collided with a pickup.  He was thrown from the motorcycle and underneath the truck.

40-year-old Adam Higgins of Hutchinson was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

This was the 16th fatal traffic collision and the 18th traffic death in Wichita so far this year.
