A Wichita man has been charged with kidnapping, rape and other charges in connection with attacks on two women.
40-year-old Marlon Montoya made his first appearance in court Tuesday on aggravated kidnapping, two counts of rape, two counts of aggravated criminal sodomy, aggravated assault, and two misdemeanor counts of battery. His bond was set at $250,000 and his next court appearance was scheduled for February 14th.
Montoya was arrested after separate reports by two women who said they had asked him for a ride. A 54-year-old woman reported that she was beaten and sexually assaulted on December 31st. She made the report to officers in the 1000 block of North Topeka. On January 22nd, officers were sent to the area of 13th and Ohio, where a 63-year-old woman reported a similar attack. Officers were able to identify Montoya as the suspect and he was arrested on January 27th in the 1000 block of East MacArthur.
