A man has been sentenced to over two and a half years in prison for a fatal 2023 crash in Wichita.

A judge gave a 31-month sentence to 21-year-old Ahmad Juma, with another 24 months of post-release supervision.  He had pleaded guilty in February to two counts of involuntary manslaughter.

Prosecutors said speed was a likely factor in a crash that happened on November 15th, 2023 near Pawnee and Woodlawn.  A car went off the road and hit a utility poll and then rolled several times.  Two 19-year-old female passengers, Carol Chakra and Lian Awadi, were thrown from the vehicle and killed.
