Vandalism was discovered Tuesday at the Kansas Firefighters Museum in Wichita.

Graffiti was discovered Tuesday on the building and the memorial sculpture.   Museum officials posted a statement on social media, saying “When art and self-expression turns to vandalism, specifically the defacement of our 115 year old building, a symbol of Kansas’ proud firefighting history, and the memorial dedicated to the fallen Kansas Firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice, this is no longer an act of personal expression. It becomes an attack on the legacy and respect that this space represents….To damage or deface these symbols is to dishonor the memory of those who dedicated their lives to saving others.  We will continue to work with the authorities and the community to ensure that these acts of vandalism are addressed.”

Anyone with information on the vandalism is urged to contact Wichita police or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
