Today, we salute Vietnam Veteran Don Stephan. When Don returned home from his service in Vietnam, like many, his welcome home was not the one he deserved. Don says he and others were “treated like scum.” In 2022, Don had a chance to visit the National Vietnam Memorial in Washington D.C. through Honor Flight of Dubuque, and it changed his life. Don said he was in tears, standing there looking at his friend’s name on the wall. So now, Don has quietly donated $500 to pay the way for one Veteran to make that same trip. Don said, “In the service, they always said you were like a band of brothers. You looked out for each other. Thank you for sharing your story, Don and THANK YOU for your service.
