An unidentified man was critically injured in a shooting Friday night at a northeast Wichita hotel.
Officers were called to a motel near 37th Street North and Rock Road just after 9 p.m. and they found a 32-year-old man with a gunshot wound.
Investigators said the man confronted a 33-year-old woman that he had a relationship with. He had threatened the woman with a knife earlier in the day and he had taken some items from her. The woman also had minor injuries from the incident, but it was not reported to police. The man returned to the hotel later with the knife and threatened the woman and a hotel manager. The woman then shot the man in self-defense.
Police questioned the woman and released her and the man will be arrested when he is released from the hospital.
