Tamie Konzier was dining at a local restaurant with her son when she met Betty, their waitress. During their conversation, Tamie was heartbroken to learn that Betty was still working at 81 years old—not by choice, but out of necessity. She was surviving on just $910 a month from Social Security, far from enough to cover her bills. Determined to help, Tamie took to TikTok, sharing Betty’s story in hopes that the online community would step in. The goal was set at $25,000, but the internet showed up big, and at last check, close to $325,000 had been donated to help Betty retire. Strangers, taking care of strangers, THAT’S AWESOME.
