A Wichita man was killed early Tuesday in a two-vehicle crash at the North Junction interchange.
The crash was reported around 5:45 a.m. on northbound I-135 at the exit ramp to Hydraulic. The Kansas Highway Patrol said a car was taking the Hydraulic exit when it was hit from behind by an SUV, then the SUV continued north across the traffic lanes and hit an outside barrier wall in the construction zone. The SUV came to rest upright in the center and left lanes, while the car pulled to the shoulder and stopped.
The driver of the SUV, 39-year-old Jeffery Galbreath of Wichita, was killed in the crash. The driver of the car, a 29-year-old Wichita woman, had no injuries.
A number of emergency vehicles were on the scene with the center and right lanes closed to traffic for several hours.
