A Wichita man was killed Thursday in an accident in Sheridan County, in northwest Kansas.

Troopers said 53-year-old Shawn Kinder was driving a semi that was hauling an oil derrick, and he was going south on Kansas Highway 23 around 3 p..m.  At Road 70 South, he was making a right turn when the oil derrick came into contact with live power lines overhead.  Kinder was thrown from the cab.  A pedestrian, a 48-year-old Natoma man, was able to get into the cab to apply the parking brake.
