The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for help in solving a cold-case homicide from 1988.

The body of 19-year-old Michael J. Fowler was found on September 14th, 1988 on the side of the road in the 9000 block of North Oliver.  He had several gunshot wounds.

Detectives learned that the last known person to see Fowler alive was Eddie Jason Coolinge, also known as Eddie Hale or Jason Hale.  Detectives also identified a mutual acquaintance, 19-year-old Daryl Weaver,   The three men were known to frequent parks in the Riverside area and the adult video store, Circle Cinema.

Both Hale and Weaver have since passed away—Hale in 2000 and Weaver in 2014. Despite an extensive investigation, Fowler’s murder remains unsolved.

Anyone who knew Michael J. Fowler, Eddie Jason Coolinge (aka Eddie Hale/Jason Hale), or Daryl Weaver and may have information related to this case is urged to contact Detective Cody Rexroat or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at (316) 267-2111.   Detectives say any piece of information, no matter how small, could be critical in solving the murder.
