Today’s Awesome comes from Peru. Maximo Napa left his home port for a fishing trip on December 7th of last year. He packed enough supplies for two weeks, but 10 days into his journey, a big storm blew him off course. Fast-forward 95 days, and he was just rescued at sea, severely dehydrated and in critical condition but alive. He said he survived on rainwater, roaches, sea birds, and, most recently, turtles. He said thinking of his family, especially his 2-month-old granddaughter, gave him the will to live. The first thing the family plans to do when Maximo is up to it is celebrate his birthday, which passed while he was lost at sea. An incredible story of survival and the will to live, and that’s awesome.
