A Wichita man has been charged with first degree murder in connection with a fatal 2021 shooting.
During an appearance Monday in Sedgwick County District Court, 31-year-old Pedro Morones, Jr. was charged with the murder count, criminal discharge of a firearm, and three counts of aggravated assault. His bond was set at $1.5 million and a preliminary status hearing was scheduled for March 27th.
Morones was arrested last week after new information came to light in the case. The shooting happened on March 29th, 2021 around 1:30 a.m. and the victim, 21-year-old Abram Galvan, went to a hospital where he died a short time later. Police found that the shooting had taken place near 19th and Jackson.
Investigators continued to work on the case, following up on leads, analyzing forensic and electronic evidence, collaborating with local media to encourage witnesses to come forward, and featuring the case on WPD’s Cold Case Homicide website.
