Businesses at the Towne West Square shopping mall in Wichita have been notified that the mall has been sold.
The news follows word that a rezoning application for the mall has been filed with the Wichita Metropolitan Area Planning Commission. The application was filed by the Wichita Maple Company, LLC, and the Baughman Company, a civil engineering and architecture firm, is also mentioned. The rezoning is to convert the mall from commercial to industrial use.
Towne West has had issues over the past couple of years, with power outages caused by late payment of electric bills. Some businesses have left the mall because of the situation.
