Fire officials in Hutchinson are looking into the cause of an early morning house fire.
Four people and several pets were able to escape the fire when it broke out shortly before 4:30 Monday morning in the 500 block of East 1st. Crews found two dogs during a search of the house and returned them to the owner. There were no injuries.
Heavy smoke was coming from the attic of the two-story home when crews arrived, and they worked to create ventilation in the roof to allow crews on the second floor to get the fire out. They had to expose a large area of ceiling and shingles to find all hidden fires.
