Today, we salute Kansas Navy Veteran Tom Gregg. Tom spent 52 weeks at aviation electronics school in Memphis, the whole time hearing about this dream assignment down in New Zealand. To his surprise, he got the position, but it came with a lot of responsibility. Tom had to know everything about the C-130 aircraft: communications, navigation, control systems, hydraulics, electronics, and everything that was involved with operating the C-130. For the next three years, he was part of a team that safely delivered people and supplies across the continent of Antarctica. While there were hours of boredom at times, Tom said landing on sheets of ice was sheer terror. Greg finished his Navy career as a Petty Officer 3rd Class in 1974. And thanks to his desire to live near his daughter and grandkids, he’s happy to be back home in Wichita. Thank you for sharing your story, Tom, and THANK YOU for your service.
