The Wichita Fire Department is sponsoring a contest to get ideas from the public on a name for its new mascot.

People can make submissions for $5 per entry, with the proceeds going to the animals at the Kansas Humane Society.  Submissions can be made from now through March 11th.

The Wichita Fire Department will pick the Top 10 Finalists and people will vote on their favorite, and more information will be provided on the Wichita Fire Department’s social media pages.

The winner will be announced on April 5th from 10-11 a.m. and an event will be held at the Humane Society with the mascot for anyone who wants to come out.
For people who don’t want to donate online, the Humane Society will also accept in-kind donations (treats, toys, etc.) in their retail store and people will still have the chance to submit a name for the mascot.
