Kansas corrections officials and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation are looking into the death of an inmate at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility.
The inmate, 57-year-old Lamoine Wiebe of Peabody, was found unresponsive in his cell Saturday morning. Staff and then emergency medical crews began providing treatment but Wiebe was pronounced dead. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
Wiebe was serving a 233-month sentence for a conviction of voluntary manslaughter from Harvey County. He was convicted in the 2011 shooting death of his father, 78-year-old Richard Wiebe, whose body was found in a building in Sedgwick. Lamoine Wiebe was arrested in Park City after a chase with Wichita police, then he was transferred to Harvey County.
