By a narrow margin, voters in the Wichita school district have rejected a school bond issue proposal.

The unofficial results from the Sedgwick County Election Office, with all 198 precincts and advance votes counted, there were 13,506 no votes and 13,278 yes votes, a margin of just 228 votes.   It’s unclear if mail ballots yet to be received will affect the outcome.  Voters with mail ballots were supposed to have them postmarked by Tuesday and they will have to arrive at the Election Office by Friday.  The Election Office sent out 10,147 mail ballots and 6,121 had been returned by Tuesday.

The voter turnout for the election was 13.39 percent.  The vote canvass is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, March 6th and 9 a.m. at the Election Office.
