Early voting began Tuesday at the Sedgwick County Election Office for the bond issue that will be decided by voters in the Wichita school district.
The Election Office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and early voting will conclude at noon on February 24th. Only registered voters who live within the boundaries of USD 259 can vote in the special election.
Satellite voting locations will open Thursday at nine locations:
- Bel Aire City Building, 7651 E. Central Park, Bel Aire 67226
- Grace Presbyterian Church, 5002 E. Douglas Ave., Wichita 67208
- Vernon Methodist Church, 5701 E. Mt Vernon St., Wichita 67218
- Park City City Hall, 1941 E. 61st St. N., Park City 67219
- Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, 2727 E. 25th St. N., Wichita 67219
- Reformation Lutheran, 7601 E. 13th St. N., Wichita 67206
- Andrew’s Lutheran, 2555 Hyacinth Ln., Wichita 67204
- Westlink Church of Christ, 10025 W. Central Ave., Wichita 67212
- Woodland Lakes Community Church, 770 S. Greenwich Rd, Wichita 67207
The satellite locations will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Voters who cast a ballot on Election Day, February 25th, will have to go to their assigned polling place, and voting that day will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Voters will decide on a proposal that will provide funding to update classrooms and address critical needs with aging roofs, heating and cooling systems, and accessibility, along with safety and security improvements. The bond issue will keep the mill levy at the same level, so it will not increase the tax rate.
