In Wichita, heavy snow was covering streets and police activated the Emergency Accident Reporting Plan for accidents with no injuries, no alcohol, and both vehicles can still be driven. Drivers should pick up an accident reporting form and turn it in to a police substation within 24 hours.
A number of crashes were reported around the Wichita area, and the Kansas Turnpike was closed at Emporia Tuesday afternoon because of several crashes.
Snow plows have continued to work on the major routes.
In Wichita, some city facilities are closed Wednesday because of weather conditions:

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office had to close its Offender Registration Unit at the Courthouse because of a problem with the heating system. All functions of the unit, including offender registration services and fingerprinting, were not available for the remainder of the day. Operations will be reevaluated Thursday to determine when services will resume. Offenders who were planning to register on Wednesday were told to go to the Sedgwick County jail front lobby.
