Today, the Awesome is in Glasgow, Scotland. Jimmy and Ingrid Campbell have had an extraordinary journey together. Their love story began at a ski resort, where Jimmy was stationed with the army. At the time, he spoke only a handful of German words, while Ingrid didn’t speak English at all. But their connection transcended words, and a year later, Ingrid followed Jimmy home to Scotland, where they began their life together. Through nearly seven decades of marriage, they built a beautiful family with two daughters and five grandchildren. The couple, who first met 70 years ago in Germany, recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary—along with Jimmy’s 95th birthday—at the HC-One care home, surrounded by family and friends. Reflecting on their lifelong bond, Ingrid shared, “Jimmy and I have always been best friends, and we share everything – the good and the bad. We are very compatible, and we have stayed as much in love now as when we first met.” When love is the most important language, THAT’S AWESOME.
