Today, the Awesome is in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The Girl Scouts were out in full force this weekend with their cookies, and before I buy mine, I like to ask the girls what the money they are raising will be used for. No one has ever said to save lives, but now one Girl Scout can. When 11-year-old Vada Carawan learned the basics of CPR at a Girl Scout meeting, she never expected to be using them 11 days later, but when her Dad collapsed, she didn’t hesitate. She immediately called 911, and with amazing composure, she began chest compressions that kept her father alive until 1st responders arrived. Her dad, Clinton, is expected to make a full recovery and says he tears up every time he thinks about his daughter saving his life. Proving there is so much more to Girl Scouts than just cookies, THAT’S AWESOME.
