The Trump administration is firing hundreds of employees at the Department of Homeland Security.

Many of the layoffs were at FEMA, but workers were also terminated at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

A DHS spokesperson said, “Under President Trump’s leadership, we are making sweeping cuts and reform across the federal government.” It’s the latest mass purge of federal employees by Trump’s administration, just days after thousands of probationary employees were also fired.

The IRS is reportedly set to lay off thousands of employees as soon as this week. This would come at the busiest time of the year for the tax collecting agency.

Multiple media outlets cite sources saying the IRS will be letting go of probationary workers as part of the Trump administration’s efforts to reduce the federal government workforce. It comes as multiple reports say Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency is looking to get access to the IRS’ taxpayer data system.
