The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office has identified skeletal remains that were found in December in the Oaklawn neighborhood south of Wichita.

The remains were found December 16th in the 4800 block of South Clifton.  They were identified through dental records and clothing, and investigators confirmed the remains are those of 46-year-od Dion Elliott Curry, who was homeless and known to frequent the Oaklawn area.

The Sheriff’s Office said Curry was a registered offender and had last reported to the Offender Registration Unit in January, 2024, then he was reported missing in April to the Wichita Police Department.

Investigators said a preliminary examination by an anthropologist found no signs of trauma, and foul play is not suspected in Curry’s death.   Anyone who knew Curry and had contact with him during the past year is urged to contact Detective Michael Clopton at 316-660-5300.
