Robert F Kennedy Jr. is being confirmed as the head of the Department of Health and Human Services. The Senate voted 52 to 48 to make Kennedy Jr. the next Health Secretary.
Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell was the only Republican to vote against Kennedy. Democrats pointed to past comments made by Kennedy Jr. related to his criticism of vaccines as their main reason to not support him.
The Senate also voted to confirm Brooke Rollins as Secretary of Agriculture. Rollins was confirmed by a vote of 72-28.
Meanwhile, President Trump’s pick for FBI Director, Kash Patel, will face a key procedural vote by the Senate Judiciary Committee. If Patel clears the committee, his nomination will head to the Senate floor for a full vote.
