Today, the Awesome is in Onamia, Minnesota. I will always have a great respect for bus drivers and for the job they do getting our kids to and from school and after-school activities safely. Brian Lathrop was driving his school bus last Wednesday morning when a semi-truck veered into his lane, heading straight for him. Without hesitation, Lathrop made a daring maneuver, steering into the truck’s lane to avoid a catastrophic head-on collision. The semi scraped along the side of the bus, but thanks to Lathrop’s quick thinking, everyone inside remained unharmed. The local Sheriff’s Office commended Brian’s decisive action, stating that his skillful response “saved many lives.” The Onamia school district will formally recognize his heroism at the next school board meeting. Quick thinking and sharp driving skills saving lives, THAT’S AWESOME.
